About Dr. Andrea Rajnakova

Dr Rajnakova attained her basic medical degree (MD, Hons) from her home country, Slovakia in 1992. In 1995, she completed her Specialist Training in Internal Medicine and obtained her postgraduate degree, Master of Medicine (M.Med, Hons, Slovakia).

Dr Rajnakova followed her husband to Singapore in 1995, where she began her Doctorate Medical Studies at the National University of Singapore as a PhD scholar. She completed her PhD thesis on Gastric Cancer in 2000. During her studies, she has received several prestigious awards: The Young Doctor’s Research Award and the Best Paper Award for oral presentation on gastric cancer and she was a winner of Best Oral Presentation in Medical Disciplines at NHG 8th Annual Scientific Congress. She presented multiple papers at International and local conferences and published research papers in international journals. She was one of the founding members and investigators of Gastric cancer consortium in Singapore and participated in implementation of gastric and colon cancer screening recommendations in Singapore.

She obtained the membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK, MRCP (UK) and Master of Internal Medicine, Singapore (MMed) and subsequently she was awarded the Fellowship of the Academy of Singapore in Gastroenterology (FAMS). She further continued her professional development and specialisation, and she was awarded a Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) by the Ministry of Health, Singapore for advanced training in Therapeutic Endoscopy and ERCP at European Endoscopic Training Center, Università Cattolica Del Sacro Cuore, Gemelli Hospital, Roma, Italy under Professor Guido Costamagna, President of European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr Rajnakova was a Consultant in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, National University Hospital until April 2010. She was also a clinical tutor for undergraduate and postgraduate students in Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, mentor and endoscopy trainer for specialists and endoscopy trainees. She organized several Endoscopy workshops for local and international gastroenterologists.

She received several awards for her clinical service: Sunny-Side-Up Award NUH Service Award, Sunny-Side-Up Wow Award NUH Service Award, Excellent Service GOLD Award and National Excellent Service EXSA Star Award. In 2014 she received Goodwill Envoy Award from Ministry of Foreign Affairs Slovakia.

In 2010 she started her private practice at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. In September 2018 she opened her new clinic at Royal Square at Novena. Dr Rajnakova provides holistic approach to all her patients. Her main interest is therapeutic endoscopy, celiac disease, food allergies, diet and nutrition. She is also multilingual; she speaks fluent English, Czech, Slovak and Russian.
